Prepare an introduction without putting anyone under pressure
A good introduction protects everyone's right to decline. A suggested path is not permission to share contact details.
Who this guide is for: People requesting, mediating or receiving an introduction.
1. Explain a small, specific request
Say why you want to meet, what you are asking for and how much time it may take. Avoid vague demands for help or promises about the outcome. Check whether the proposed intermediary is actually appropriate.
2. Keep everyone's decision separate
The requester, intermediary and recipient have different roles. Do not treat one person's acceptance as everyone's consent. Declining or postponing must not require an explanation.
3. Review without sharing contacts
SIX prepares an introduction and consent links; it does not automatically send external messages. Requests expire after seven days. Acceptance confirms consent status only: SIX never provides another person's contact details. Automatic detection of every sensitive detail is not available: review names and the displayed request yourself.
4. Protect the relationship if it does not happen
Do not label refusal or silence as failure. Avoid repeated requests and pressure. Introduction content and replies are not supplied for advertising targeting. If a request expires, obtain new consent rather than reusing it.
